Cup Concerns

We have received some comments that our take out cups have been leaking at the seams. We have been working diligently with the manufacturer to improve the performance of our cups while remaining compostable. We began this work eight months ago and there are more improvements to make but it takes time and testing.

The nature of paper cups (whether compostable or not) is that the inside seam creates a bump along the top rim where the cup meets the lid. This bump pushes up the lid and allows liquid to flow over and down between the two walls and out through the bottom.

There are two things you can do to prevent cup leaks:

  1.  Ensure the hole in the lid is lined up opposite to the inside seam. Note there are two seams on our double-walled cups.

  1. Take a few sips of your drink before putting on the lid so there is about 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) space between the rim and the coffee.

These simple steps will minimize any leaks and allow you to enjoy your beautiful drink be it tea, coffee, cider or hot chocolate!

  • Hi
Any chance you could offer almond or coconut milk to the coffee creamer table?
That woukd be great for those of us that dont consume dairy.

  • I realize this happens with a variety of cups at most coffee take out places. The real solution I see is to bring a travel mug- coffee stays hot, no leaks, no waste. Plus, I believe there’s a small discount. It pays to think ahead.

  • It’s actually not leaking from the top over the rim and to the bottom.

It appears to literally be leaking out from the bottom seams.

  • This still does not solve the problem… I have spilt coffee on numerous items of clothing and have not found these issues with other companies that also use compostable cups. It’s super frustrating to ruin shirts at the beginning of a day, or at all for that matter. Hope it’s fixed soon as it’s been like this for ages and I buy bridgehead less because of it.
    Thanks!
