EK #65 Blend Launch at the Roastery!

Our friend Erik Karlsson stopped by on November 17th to help launch the 2014 EK #65 blend. This fundraiser blend was a great success last year and helped to raise over $11 000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa’s (BGCO) Homework Club.

(Eric speaking on the importance of BGCO's Homework Club)

Ian Clark, our Coffee Director describes this season’s blend as having tasting notes of sweet stone fruit and caramel flavours balanced with an intense peppery and bittersweet dark roast character. This medium dark blend will appeal to many Erik Karlsson fans. Try it with our Pine Nut, Seed & Rosemary Brittle to bring out the caramel notes.

$2 from every pound of EK #65 blend sold will be donated to the BGCO's Homework Club. “Membership in Homework Club has jumped 85 percent in the last five years and the number of overall visits has increased by more than 114 percent. And the youth love it; 83 percent of Homework Club Members surveyed said that by attending Homework Club, they feel more confident in their schoolwork. That’s what we want to see” says Colleen Mooney, Executive Director of BGCO,

“I want to thank Bridgehead for agreeing again this year to participate in this fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa,” says Erik Karlsson. I really enjoyed the experience of working with the best coffee company in Ottawa in developing my blend of coffee, the EK #65, and am happy they will make it again this year. I hope everyone will enjoy this year’s EK #65 as much I do. Let me know how you like it by tweeting me your reviews (@erikkarlsson65) with the hashtag #ek65bridgehead. ”

  • I was enjoying the EK 65 last year and loved it. I hear it’s different this year – more of a medium so I’d like to actually try it before purchasing a bag.
In calling today, I hear that you don’t really know when it’s going to be on-brew in any of your cafes. I had recently purchased the Nicaraguan dark but find it too strong (the Nic medium wasn’t strong enough). Guess I’m hard to please, but why not if you like good coffee. If you know when the Wellington or Richmond road or even Preston might have the EK65 on brew, I would like to know. thanks!
