Christmas Comes to Vanier Clubhouse!

A young student presents a large thank-you card to Bridgehead staff

We were so thrilled to be invited to the Vanier Clubhouse for a big party with the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO)! They wanted to thank you, the Bridgehead Community, for all of your support this year. This is the second year our friend Erik Karlsson has worked with us to bring EK#65 blend to Ottawa. Each package of this great coffee you bought sent $2 to the Homework Club, which for years has improved the confidence of children in their work. Last year we were able to raise over $11,000, and we’re so excited to see how much of a success we can all make it this time around.

We wanted to bring a little bit of the Bridgehead experience to them, so, we brought supplies for a hot chocolate and cookie party - the best type! They brought the biggest, best smiles and a huge thank you card to everyone who helped their club, especially to our store on Second Avenue that has been keen sellers of EK #65. Daron and Matae from Second were impressed with the club. Matae said that even though more than one hundred kids were lined up, “everyone was the most polite and thankful. I saw so many happy smiles that day. It was a room full of sunshine on such a cold winter day.”

Your generosity inspired the staff here at Bridgehead. We don’t believe in all work and no play, so, employees pooled together. These awesome kids were just rapturous when they found out that they could play Disney Infinity on their brand new PlayStation. By the time the kids finished their treats, they were lined up and ready to take turns sharing their present with that same, incredible politeness. It’s encouraging to see such a successful program that has made education so fun for youth. Daron says that, “you could tell from down the hallway that there was a room full of 60 kids having a really fun time, and that was while they were still doing homework, before they even knew about the Xbox!”

It’s not too late to support the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa! You can purchase EK #65 at any of our 15 locations until February 28th as well as online. For more information about the club and the wonderful programming they offer, check them out at www.BGCOttawa.org.
