On Saturday, August 16th, we hosted our annual Bridgehead Barista Competition where nine of our company’s best baristas competed for a chance to represent Bridgehead at the Eastern Regional Barista Championship coming up September 20-21.
Each competitor was challenged to produce four single shots of espresso and four traditional cappuccinos to present to a panel of judges. Competitors were graded on the quality of their drinks and technical ability on the espresso machine, as well as their customer service skills and professionalism.
The competition was fierce, but at the end of the day our winners were Dan Young of our Elgin Street location taking 1st place and Elisha Fisher from our Sparks street location coming in a close 2nd. Dan wowed the judges with a delicious set of single espressos and cappuccinos while delivering a great presentation. Elisha (pictured above with her family and cheering section) won the Latte Art Throwdown, where she went headtohead against eight other baristas in a high intensity, no rules competition.
Both Dan and Elisha will be offered a chance to represent Bridgehead at the Eastern Regional Barista Championship in Victoriaville, QC. If you visit our Elgin or Sparks Street locations, please be sure to cheer on these two baristas as they prepare to compete against the best that Eastern Canada has to offer.
