This is a shout out to our local farmers that provide us, and in turn you, with fresh produce for our Bridgehead baking and savory menu items.
You have to be passionate and tireless to farm today. You need to be a MacGyver of sorts, one who wields a toolbox of skills including meteorology, marketing, science, animal husbandry, welding, mechanics and carpentry. Farming is a 24/7 commitment and it is unpredictable. A wet spring means a late start to our short growing season and ultimately that means less yield. A long, dry hot spell like we had in the first few weeks of July can stress crops and bring them to the brink of shrivelling in the field.
Our kitchen is proud to have 15 local farm partners that grow ingredients for our baked and savoury menu items. Having local ingredients means that the quality of produce is fresher and tastier. We understand the importance of buying local and keeping our dollars in our region. You get this too!
