Worka, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia

Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmer's Cooperative Union Ethiopia Worka is a cooperative member of Yirgacheffe Union with 305 individual members each farming less than 4 hectares of land.  It is found in the Gedeb district, approximately 70 kilometers from the market town of Dilla.  The cooperative was formed in 2005 and is known among other accomplishments for producing a remarkable natural processed coffee that is dried in the sun on raised beds before the fruit is removed from the seeds, producing a highly unusual flavour profile with aromas of grapefruit, blackcurrant and strawberry.  The high quality of this coffee is in part a result of their extraordinary altitudes (sometimes exceeding 2500 meters above sea level) and skillful process control. 

Each producer typically produces approximately 1500 pounds of coffee per hectare, bringing their annual production to just over 10 containers.
